The concept for Lee-Jackson Memorial Park was announced publicly at the annual Lee-Jackson Day events in Lexington, Virginia in January 2023. The park had only been an idea a few weeks earlier, but by the end of the month we had a contract completed and closed on Phase I of the project in February that same year. By early March we held our first volunteers workday to clear trees and debris for the installation of the flag site which was sponsored by the Virginia Flaggers. Since then the park has grown with additional land purchases and lease agreements as we work towards the ultimate goal of creating a roughly 20 acre outdoor historical park and museum.
