Our speaker and author will be William Connerly. He has spoken at camp meetings and at the Chapel on topics such as the CSA Shenandoah, Pres. RE Lee at W&L, Pres John Tyler and the Confederacy, and John Mosby.
He has a new program on the outbreak of war in Northern Virginia. In addition to interesting topics on the details he will present an overview of the Battle of Balls Bluff. Here, on October 21,1861 in Loudoun County, Confederate forces gave Gen George B. McClellan a humiliating defeat which would haunt the Union forces for the rest of the war. Confederate forces suffered 155 casualties vs the yankees 1,002.
